Student Management
Manage the full student lifecycle — from enrollment through graduation. Track academic progress, monitor clinical procedure requirements, and ensure every student meets the competencies needed to practice dentistry.
Enrollment
Enroll students individually or in bulk via CSV import. Each student record captures:
- Personal details (name, date of birth, gender, contact information)
- Academic details (enrollment year, expected graduation year, roll number)
- Department and batch assignment
- Photograph and ID for the student portal
- Emergency contact and guardian information
- Previous education and entrance exam scores
Once enrolled, students receive login credentials and can access Odento's student interface, where they see their schedule, assigned patients, procedure log, and academic requirements.

Batches
Organize students into batches — typically by admission year (e.g., "Batch of 2024"). Batches let you:
- Apply curriculum and assessment schedules to an entire cohort at once
- Compare progress across batches to identify year-over-year trends
- Manage clinical rotations and department assignments by batch
- Track graduation readiness for each cohort
A student can belong to multiple batches if your institute uses sub-groupings (e.g., a primary batch by admission year and a secondary batch for a specialized elective track).
Batch Promotion
At the end of each academic year, use the batch promotion tool to advance students to the next year. Students who haven't met requirements are flagged for review before promotion.

Progress Tracking
Each student has a progress dashboard that aggregates data from academics and clinical operations:
Screenshot — Progress Tracking
- Academic progress: GPA, assessment scores, attendance rate, and standing in the batch
- Clinical progress: Procedures performed vs. required, by type (extractions, restorations, root canals, prosthodontics, etc.)
- Competency status: Which competencies have been assessed and signed off, and which are pending
- Supervision history: Which faculty members have supervised the student and their feedback
Clinical Requirements
Dental councils require students to complete a minimum number of specific procedures before graduation. Odento tracks these requirements automatically. Configure your institute's requirements in Settings › Clinical › Requirements:
| Procedure Type | Required | Completed | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extractions | 50 | 42 | In Progress |
| Amalgam Restorations | 40 | 40 | Complete |
| Root Canals | 20 | 8 | Behind |
| Complete Dentures | 10 | 5 | In Progress |
When a student logs a procedure in the Clinical Operations module, it automatically counts toward their requirements. Students who fall behind are flagged for faculty review.
Verification Required
Procedures only count toward requirements after faculty verification. A student logs the procedure; the supervising faculty member reviews and approves it. This ensures accuracy and maintains clinical standards.
Student Portal
Students access Odento through a dedicated portal that shows them:
- Today's schedule — classes, clinical sessions, and assigned patients
- Patient records they've been assigned (with supervision indicators)
- Procedure log — what they've done and what's pending verification
- Clinical requirements dashboard — their progress toward graduation
- Academic results and upcoming assessments
- Messages from faculty and supervisors
