Sparkwise

A learning management system built for dental education. Create and enroll in courses, complete assessments, earn certifications, and track your learning progress — integrated with the broader Odento ecosystem.

Overview

Sparkwise is Odento's learning management system (LMS), purpose-built for dental education. It supports self-paced courses, instructor-led programs, blended learning, and continuing dental education (CDE) credit tracking. Educators can create courses with video lessons from Wave, reading materials, quizzes, and practical assessments.

Sparkwise integrates with Linklane (completed courses and certifications appear on professional profiles), Wave (video content is embedded directly into course modules), and Symposia (CDE credits from attended events flow into the Sparkwise learning transcript).

Cross-Platform Learning

A dental student opens Odento, taps Sparkwise, and sees dental-specific courses. The same student can also open Sparkwise directly to browse courses across all verticals.

Assessments

Sparkwise supports multiple assessment types to evaluate learner understanding:

  • Multiple choice (MCQ): Single or multiple correct answers. Auto-graded.
  • True/False: Binary choice questions. Auto-graded.
  • Fill in the blank: Type the correct answer. Auto-graded with exact or fuzzy matching.
  • Matching: Pair items from two lists. Auto-graded.
  • Short answer: Free-text response. Manual or AI-assisted grading.
  • File upload assignment: Submit documents, images, or case reports. Manual grading.
  • Practical assessment: In-person or video-based skill demonstration. Manual grading.

Assessment Settings

  • Pass threshold: Minimum score to pass (e.g., 70%).
  • Attempts: Number of allowed attempts (unlimited or capped).
  • Time limit: Optional countdown timer per attempt.
  • Question pool: Randomize questions from a larger pool for each attempt.
  • Feedback: Show correct answers immediately, after submission, or never.
  • Proctoring: Optional webcam-based proctoring for high-stakes exams.

Certifications

When a learner completes a course and passes all required assessments, Sparkwise issues a digital certificate. Certificates are verifiable — each has a unique ID and public verification URL. Certificates appear on the learner's Linklane profile and can be shared to LinkedIn or downloaded as PDF.

Certificate Types

  • Completion certificate: Issued for finishing all course modules (no pass threshold).
  • Achievement certificate: Issued for passing all assessments above the threshold.
  • CDE credit certificate: Issued for DCI-recognized continuing education courses. Includes credit hours.
  • Professional certification: Issued upon completing a multi-course certification program.

Verifiable Credentials

Every Sparkwise certificate has a public verification URL. Employers and licensing bodies can verify authenticity without contacting the issuer.

Progress Tracking

Sparkwise tracks detailed learning progress for each enrolled learner. The progress dashboard shows:

  • Course completion percentage (modules and lessons completed)
  • Assessment scores and attempt history
  • Time spent learning (total and per course)
  • Streak tracking (consecutive days of activity)
  • CDE credits earned (total and per year)
  • Learning path progress (for certification programs)

Gamification

Sparkwise includes optional gamification elements to boost engagement:

  • Badges: Earned for milestones (first course, 7-day streak, perfect quiz score).
  • Leaderboards: Optional, opt-in rankings among peers or cohort members.
  • Learning streaks: Daily activity tracking with streak protection (one skip per week).

Creating Courses (For Educators)

Verified educators can create courses on Sparkwise. The course builder is a drag-and-drop interface where you assemble modules, add lessons, embed Wave videos, upload materials, and create assessments.

CDE Course Approval

Courses that carry CDE credits must be approved by the DCI-recognized accrediting body. Sparkwise provides the submission workflow and documentation templates.

Enrollment and Access

Learners can enroll in courses through:

  • Direct enrollment: Browse the Sparkwise catalog and enroll in a course.
  • Organization enrollment: Institutes assign courses to students or staff in bulk.
  • Event-linked: Symposia event registration can include access to a Sparkwise course.
  • Referral: Educators share enrollment links with their Linklane network.

Paid courses require payment through Razorpay before enrollment. Free courses can be enrolled in instantly. Some courses may require prerequisite completion or educator approval.
